Applus is a global leader in vehicle inspection regulatory services and emissions testing solutions worldwide. It performs more than 20 million inspections per year in Europe, North America, Central America and South America, making it a truly global and recognized organization in the field of vehicle inspection.
At the last EXPOCARGA, in addition to having its stand, APPLUS installed a monitoring area in the car park where visitors could check their vehicles free of charge.
Eng. Álvaro Casal, Manager of APPLUS, participated in the ProTransporte forum and was the person with whom we discussed some details related to the faults detected in the trucks.
What percentage of trucks need to be re-inspected?
Three years ago, the average stabilized at 40%; The number of vehicles that are returned for inspection, whether due to serious or very serious defects, includes those that are rejected or subject to conditional inspection. Within this 40% are those rejected that remain for 24 hours, accounting for 14%; 26% are conditional inspections.
What faults are the most common?
In 75% of faults, the faults are primarily related to brake defects, followed by lighting, axles in third place and suspension in fourth place. The remainder are bodywork or interior defects, issues that are not as relevant to road safety but which also qualify as serious or very serious defects. In brake defects, only 8% are considered very serious defects, the remainder are serious.
