Daniel and Celeste Zeffiro from CDC Transporte: “We are betting very heavily on Uruguay”

During EXPOCARGA 2023, we had a chat with Daniel and Celeste Zeffiro from TRANSJOVEM and CDC.

Welcome to EXPOCARGA!

Daniel: The truth is that we wanted to be seen, to participate, because we have been suppliers to Uruguay for many years; Our company has been in the market for 40 years and in Mercosur since it began, so Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay are our preferred destinations.

How did the idea for this company come about? Did you come from the transportation industry first or did you create this company as an opportunity?

Daniel: I don't have much experience in transportation, I've never driven a truck, but I've always liked them. My commercial appetite and, in addition to contributing a lot, always moving forward, led me to think that someone could work for me, receiving a salary. So I started buying a truck, two trucks and well, that's how we moved forward and gradually began to build our company.

Our last name is Zeffiro with a zeta and we had the trucks like that, in the name of a sole proprietorship, but the time came when we were 10 years old and well, with my wife, my partner, we said let's give the company a name and we decided to give the names of the boys, our children, the initials, Celeste, Diego and Cecília. So CDC was born like that.

What role do you play in the company, Celeste?

Celeste: I am in the logistics department responsible for everything in Uruguay and Paraguay, both import and export.

And precisely because you have our market in command, how do you see the Uruguayan market?

Celeste: I see that it is getting stronger and stronger, although we have been here for a few years, each year we see that it is growing more, that there are more opportunities, we see businesses that are not seen there in Argentina, like in the Free Trade Zones, for example, the great movement that they have in the port and also in airports like Carrasco, they are growing and growing more and more.

Are you betting heavily on the Uruguayan market then?

Yes, we are investing very heavily, more than anything else, in everything that is pharmaceutical, in the pharmaceutical area and in everything that is the food industry.

Remember you deal with refrigerated and frozen transportation, right? Or do they have other areas?

We have everything, including closed refrigerated vans with controlled temperatures, we can also transport dry cargo and we have dump trucks for bulk loading.
