MOBILITY 4.0 forum completes Uruguay’s largest commercial electric vehicle exhibition

As part of EXPOCARGA 2023, the Forum “MOBILITY 4.0: ENERGY, TRANSPORTATION AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY” will take place on Friday, December 1st, at the Punta del Este Convention Center, in an effort to promote the cultural change necessary to develop the circular economy and new types of mobility.

The forum, which will be led by Erika Lanzetta and Macarena Árraga, will be opened by Fitzgerald Cantero Piali, National Director of Energy.

A recorded message will then be transmitted to Uruguay by Young Tae Kim, Secretary General of the International Transport Forum (ITF) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

ROUND 1: THE GREEN HYDROGEN ROUTE

The second stage of the energy transformation in Uruguay includes several challenges, including initiatives for the production of green hydrogen and derivatives, and incentives to invest in energy in Uruguay. We learn about the perspective of industrial projects that will create jobs and added value in the country, as well as the vision of national organizations and institutions.

The round, which will be moderated by Wilson Sierra (Renewable Energy Area Manager at DNE – MIEM), will be integrated by Sebastián Risso (Executive Director Uruguay XXI), Santiago Ferro (Energy Transition Manager at ANCAP), Martín Bremermann Cabrera (New Business Director for Latin America at HIF Global) and Alejo Maisonnave (General Manager of Transport and Equipment at CIR Group).

FIRST PRESENTATIONS

The first dissertation entitled “H2V Development in URUGUAY and what is needed to develop a national strategy” will be taught by Ariel Álvarez Gebelin (Independent Professional in Energy, Transport, Hydrogen and Sustainability).

Next, Verónica Díaz Moreno (Associate Professor, Interdisciplinary Group of Electrochemical Engineering (GIIE), Institute of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UdelaR) will talk to us about “Green hydrogen and electric mobility”.

To close this first block of presentations, Santiago Martínez (Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Thermodynamics, Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Production, Faculty of Engineering, UDELAR), will give the lecture “Moving towards Efficiency: Electric Mobility in Cargo Transport in Uruguay”.

ROUND 2: FINANCING TRANSFORMATION; LEADERSHIP, COOPERATION AND INCENTIVES

From the perspective of professionals linked to international organizations and the State, we will seek to highlight how interaction between the public and private sectors becomes fundamental in the development agenda, generating business commitment and collaboration for greener and more inclusive mobility.

The round led by Noelia Medina (National Future Energy Leader (NFEL)), will be composed of Fitzgerald Cantero Piali (National Energy Director), Markus Handke (Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union in Uruguay), Verónica Raffo (World Bank. Leader of the Infrastructure Program for the Southern Cone countries, Transport, Energy, Mining and Digital Development) and César Vargas (Origination and Structuring Coordinator of the Structured Finance team at CAF, Development Bank of Latin America).

SECOND PRESENTATIONS

This next block of presentations will begin with the dissertation by Nicolás Castromán (Economist, Master in Economics from the University of the Republic, Coordinator of CEFOMER), entitled “Training Initiatives in Electric Mobility”.

Afterwards, an interview will be held with Juan Salgado (President of CUTCSA and the Chamber of Transport of Uruguay), who will speak with Claudio Techera, Director of Road Transport, about how CUTCSA, the largest urban public transport operator in Montevideo, raises its current and future plans for the electrification of buses.

ROUND 3: CHANGING THE FUTURE

In every sector of activity there are professionals, organizations and companies that, with their vision of the future, drive society towards certain behaviors. Today we learn about the opinions and experiences of some of those who promote and lead the transformation of fleets towards electromobility.

The round moderated by Sebastián Lattanzio (Advisor to the National Director of Energy at DNE), will be attended by Andrea Tutte (Executive Coordinator of the Smart Grids Project at UTE), Santiago Kröger (Director of BITAFAL), electric vehicle engineer at MAN Latin America) and Luis Castañeda (Technology Director at TrackTec).

THIRD PRESENTATIONS

The first will be the lecture “Batteries: Testing, design of degradation models and key parameters that allow predicting useful life”, given by Erika Teliz González (Member of the Interdisciplinary Group of Electrochemical Engineering, Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Engineering, University of the Republic).

Rodolfo Pacheco (Easytrack Commercial Manager) will continue by giving the dissertation “EASYGREEN - Understanding, addressing and rescuing the carbon footprint in transport”.

ROUND 4: CHANGING THE FUTURE II

We spoke to some of the main players in the sector about how to change mobility habits and customs, and also about the different forms of regulation and incentives that are needed to transform reality, as well as how experiences can be replicated throughout the country.

The talk moderated by Rodrigo Zorrilla de San Martín (Vice President of AUDER - Manager of the Sustainable Mobility area of Ventus Energía. Technician in Electric Mobility), will feature Leonardo Bicchierai (After-Sales Manager of the Fiancar Group), Santiago Guelfi (Director of Sadar), Engineer Juan Carrasco (Industrial Electrical Engineer.
