The company’s operational focus is on international trade, logistics and transportation, mainly in the Southern Cone of South America. To learn more about the company, we spoke to Enrique Trapp.
When did your connection with transportation begin?
Initially, Tradex was linked to companies that imported national products, such as construction elements, with brands such as Metzen and Sena, Conatel, Inca and Ferroco, among others.
In those years it had a strong connection with Bolivia and the problem in the early 80s was finding a suitable way to send the merchandise.
First we sent the merchandise by truck to Buenos Aires, from there it went to a tax warehouse and from there, by truck, to Bolivia.
First of all, my connection with transport was as a user. Then I started contacting Uruguayan transporters to be able to send the goods from here to Bolivia, but I didn't get a response.
I decided to go to Bolivia to look for transport companies that were willing to carry out this 2,600 km service, and I found one that was willing to make this trip.
Then other transport companies joined in and we were even able to carry out multimodal transport, using rail trucks and then trucks; There was a lot of merchandise to transport.
When did you specialize as a representative of foreign companies?
In 1988 I started working with trucks from foreign companies, that's when we started with representations; first with Bolivia, then with Paraguay, then we started with Chile, Peru, Brazil and Argentina. We transport all types of goods, for this we have several specialized companies.
